Kindergarten Wildblumen

This Kindergarten is based on “Three Zero” Concept: Zero Primary Energy, Zero Emissions and Zero Waste. This building has been awarded the DGNB gold- the highest energy certifi cation standard in Germany.

The building is a solitaire, having an introverted form (communication with the environment is through the round window openings for the necessary exposure) with a central courtyard (where the inner life pulsates).

The oval centred shape of the building has an ideal A/V ratio, is energetically favourable, saves material, is artistically attractive and promotes the building identifi cation. The shape of the ellipse follows the orientation of the building - the longer sides are oriented to the north and south, the shorter sides to the west and east.

Detailed daylight simulations and calculations were carried out to ensure adequate daylight availability.The Atrium space, which is the heart of this space, is covered with ETFE pillows. Daylight calculations were performed to ascertain the most suitable characteristics for the ETFE pillows.

A series of daylight simulations were required to show that the building requires minimum artificial lighting during the working hours and has sufficient daylight in all spaces.
