The Skylight: owing to the scale and height of the atrium, a roof opening would mainly provide views to the sky and allow light from the sky dome as well as direct sunlight into the space. This implies skylights can exclusively be used to bring daylight into the space and not contribute towards views or visual connection to the focal points.

This allows openings in the roof which can solely be for the purpose of providing daylight. Layered openings, angular openings, or openings allowing only diffused daylight can be considered. As the skylight could bring in direct sunlight, shading strategies can prevent direct sunlight ingress whilst providing diffused daylight. Shading strategies tend to block views along with direct sunlight, which in the case of the skylight could be beneficial.
