Seebrücke Heiligendamm, Germany

A competition was held for the refurbuishment and redevelopment of the lighting for the bridge and walkway in the sea-side city of Heiligendamm.

A number of renderings and conceptual design ideas were submitted as part of the competition and eventually chosen as the winning entry. We were then asked to realise our winning entry and execute our design ideas.

The design aimed at reducing light pollution and unnecessary light spill onto the sea, whilst providing a safe and visually comfortable walk along the bridge. Our main concept was to provide an uninterrupted and glare-free view onto the sea. This required a careful balance of the contrast between the luminaires and the dark sea.
